Trainline is an innovative, tech business with a mission to bring together the world’s rail, coach and other travel services into one simple experience. We aim to make travel easier and more accessible, encouraging people to make more environmentally sustainable travel choices. We’re hugely proud to be the world’s leading independent rail and coach travel platform and rank among the highest-rated travel and ticketing apps globally. Today, we offer our customers travel to thousands of destinations in and across 45 countries in Europe and beyond. That’s more than £3.7 billion in ticket sales annually, and over 96 million visits to our apps and websites each month. In another major milestone, last summer Trainline listed on the London Stock Exchange and is now part of the FTSE 250.
Our culture is central to our success. We’re driven to sustain our phenomenal growth from recent years, and this means we’re always working closely and collaboratively to turn our ideas into reality. It’s this sense of pace, innovating and improving pretty much everything we do, that makes Trainline so exciting and unique – we truly believe our work has a genuine impact and will change travel for the better.
To support our ambitious commercial goals, we’re expanding our world-class Product division to drive the next stage of our development. In this newly created role, you’ll be working in a hybrid channel and mission org alongside Architects, Product Researchers, Data Scientists and Engineers to help us revolutionise the travel experience and develop a market leading product and features. The goals are ambitious and the mandate is clear – to make travel more personal.
The on-going enhancement and evolution of our app’s capability sits at the heart of everything we do. We sell tickets on behalf of over 200 rail & coach companies across more than 45 countries, and our Connections team focus on building and supporting the integrations with our supply partners all over the world. The team balances the support for existing supply partners with assimilating new supply partners whilst always focusing on a great partner experience and the development of this underlying technology.
As Senior Product Owner for the Connections team, your challenge will be to synthesise commercial inputs and technical requirements across our supply domain, and make the right trade offs to create a roadmap and backlog that delivers for our business goals and partner needs. You’ll work with a large team of Developers, and partner with other Product Owners, Commercial & Supply Leads, and Tech Managers to deliver a plan that continues to take Trainline into new markets, whilst supporting our existing supply partners. The opportunities before us are immense and made even more exciting with the significant pace of rail de-regulation in Europe.
We ship new product enhancements at speed and employ a ‘build/test/learn’ mentality around our product development. To this end, this diverse role will span from inputting into our broader Product strategy and liasing with our supply partners to running discovery sessions and evolving our technology base. This is a truly career defining role for someone passionate about product management looking for an opportunity to disrupt and define a product that will change the way people travel impacting millions of people every day.
Experience
We’re looking for creative big thinkers with small egos to achieve our ambitious plans. Most importantly, you’ll bring strong product management experience ideally across a range of international markets. We are particularly looking for candidates who are French speakers and have had exposure to a fast-paced eCommerce environment. Your expertise is likely to be more back-end oriented, but you’ll be more full-stack in your approach and have a deep customer focus.
With experience solving complex problems with technology as a Product Owner in a previous role potentially from a marketplace, B2B or partnership integration environment, you must have worked within an agile set up. Your great Product credentials go without saying, and you’ll appreciate the importance of putting customer experience at the forefront of the work you do. Further, you’ll understand that Product teams fail as many times as they succeed albeit you’re capable of getting to the root of these challenges.
You’ll bring a portfolio of experience in shaping end-to-end enhancements to a product and must be happy context switching between projects on a daily basis. Similarly, you’ll understand the importance of prioritizing product objectives and setting sprint goals as appropriate, managing expectations along the journey and adopting a more pragmatic approach when required.
What we offer:
….and many more
We value open expression at Trainline, we believe it’s the diversity of experience, backgrounds and perspectives of our employees that makes us who we are. We encourage everybody to play a part in changing the way people travel across the world.
